Oregon Business Entity Search (LLC, Corporation, Partnership)
Records of the business entities registered in Oregon are stored with the Corporation Division of the Oregon Secretary of State. The division is also responsible for record keeping and regular compliance of the businesses in the state.
Information about LLCs, Partnerships, and Corporations is available on the SOS website. Sole Proprietorships are not registered with the SOS and cannot be searched here.
Basic information pertaining to businesses is freely made available online on the SOS website. One can view information like when was the business formed, owner(s) name, business type, address etc online.
But navigating through the Oregon Secretary of State website can be confusing and required to follow a series of steps. For this very reason, we created this step by step tutorial to help you carry out the search successfully.
Before we go ahead, here are a few points you should know:
Business entity search can help you,
- In checking Business Name availability – Aspiring business owners can check/research availability of the business name.
- To research about a competing business – helps to find/research about any 3rd party business
- To file/download business documents – Business owners/registered agents can file relevant documents using the search.

Oregon Business Entity Search
On the Oregon SOS website, you can conduct the search by:
- Business name – By complete/partial name of the business
- Registry number – By the unique number assigned to each business by the SOS.
Note: For checking business name availability select ‘Business Name‘ as the search option.
Search by Name or Registry Number
Step 1: Open Oregon business search webpage – Link.
Step 2: Based on the information available with you, enter either the business name or registry number.
Step 3: In case you’re searching by business name, choose the appropriate filter and click on the ‘Search‘ button.
For ‘Search by ID’, use the business identifier ID allotted by the SOS. If you know the number, you can directly search and fetch the business details.
Step 4: On the next page, you can view the search results.
Note: If no matching results are shown for the name you entered, this means that the business name is mostly available. Read more about business name availability here.
Remember in the case of ‘Search by ID‘, only one result will be displayed.
For each result, the following associated information will be shown:
- Entity Type
- Entity Status
- Registry Number
- Name Status
Step 5: Select the desired business name and click on the corresponding ‘Registry Number‘ or ‘Name‘ to view further information.
Step 6: On the next page, you can view complete information about the business, such as:
- Registry Nbr
- Entity Type
- Entity Status
- Registry Date
- Next Renewal Date
- Renewal Due?
- Principal Place Of Business
- Registered Agent Information
- Officers Information
On this page, Business Owners/filers can also renew the business online by paying a fee of $50.
